Eligibility Criteria for the EthioGBFF Scholarship Program

Who Can Apply for the Ethiopian Girls’ Bright Future Fund (EthioGBFF) Scholarship?

1. Financial Need

Applicants must come from low-income families without regular monthly incomes, particularly those facing financial hardship in remote areas of Ethiopia.

2. Gender and Age

Female candidates of any age are eligible for the scholarship.

3. Academic Potential

Applicants should demonstrate exceptional academic potential, talent, and dedication, particularly in their secondary school performance.

4. Enrollment Status

Candidates must be enrolled in regular programs at public universities in Ethiopia.

5. Residency

Applicants must be from the Wag Himra Zone in Ethiopia.

6. Preference Criteria

Preference will be given to:

  • Female-headed households
  • Candidates with special needs
  • Outstanding female students from Wag attending public-sponsored boarding schools in Dessie due to their academic achievements

7. Secondary School Performance

Emphasis will be placed on high scores in secondary school leaving examinations.

8. Commitment to Education

Candidates should demonstrate a solid commitment to their education and envision their future academic and career aspirations.

9. Character and Leadership

Applicants should exhibit integrity, leadership potential, and a willingness to contribute positively to their communities.

10. Other Considerations

While not mandatory, candidates with extracurricular achievements, community involvement, or notable accomplishments may receive favorable consideration.

11. Compliance

Applicants must adhere to all application requirements and deadlines set forth by EthioGBFF.

12. Obligations

Recipients are expected to maintain satisfactory academic standing throughout their sponsorship. Failure to do so may result in the termination of support.
